Blue Bean Chocolate

Blue Bean Chocolate is a chocolate bar designed for the Penn State Berkey Creamery that emphasizes community, diversity, and shareability within Penn State. Its design features various nods to Penn State culture, with an included guide to decipher the abstract icons. My target audience is families of Penn State alumni who visit Berkey Creamery.

Remember going to birthday parties as a kid? Even though every slice of cake tasted the same, you always gravitated to a certain piece because of the decoration in the icing. Maybe there was a fondant flower on one piece, or the letter “E” on another. This idea framed my concept for this project.

Process

After defining my concept and target audience, I began sketching icons inspired by Penn State, then digitizing them and add color. When I finished with the digital design and dieline of the packaging, I printed, crafted, and photographed the final product.
