Sprout Magazine

The objective of this project was to design a 28-page sustainable quarterly magazine centered around one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My magazine, Sprout, addresses several goals, including Goal #13: Climate Action, Goal #3: Good Health and Well-Being, and Goal #12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Sprout is a quarterly publication dedicated to veganism, featuring vegan news, recipes, interviews, and infographics that educate and inspire readers to adopt a more plant-based lifestyle.

I began this project by collecting inspiration. I looked at cookbooks for layout inspiration and vegan documentaries for content.

Process

I visited Kyle Family Farm, a local farm, to photograph fresh produce for the magazine. I also drove around central Jersey in hopes of finding a cow (luckily not uncommon) and pulled over along a busy road to capture the shot. To add playful texture throughout the publication, I used a lemon as a stamp and incorporated the print into multiple spreads. All photography featured in the magazine is my own.
